And how will that help? Does that worth it considering big amount of time needed for the activities involved? Maybe the kids can do some of those activities outside Boy Scout?

Some colleges seem like to list statistics about the students e.g. how many Eagle Scouts, class officers, varsity athletes/captains, yearbook editors etc.
